Jordan Jefferson A 5th Round Pick?

Did I just read this correctly? Jordan Jefferson could possibly be a 5th round draft pick???

Did anyone not watch the BCS title game? I can tell you my scouting report on JJ. Looks the part, has all the physical tools, but was given 4 years in college and never developed or improved.

Jefferson is not a hidden gem or untapped resource, he was given everything including tons of talent around him, but could never win the big game. In fact, LSU won in spite of it’s less than stellar qb play from Jefferson.

I feel bad for the General Manager who decides to make that pick.

Baton Rouge – Former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson was projected as a fifth round draft choice by NFL.com’s Chad Reuter, who said Jefferson was one of the quarterback “winners” at the recent combine.

Jordan Jefferson LSU vs. Alabama
Jefferson, who was the 315th rated player out of 315 going into the combine, apparently helped himself, as did quarterbacks Andrew Luck of Stanford, Robert Griffin III of Baylor and Michigan State’s Krik Cousins.

Reuter said because of a dearth of mid-round quarterbacks, Jefferson’s arm strength and athletic ability will make him desirable for NFL teams looking for a late round quarterback.

Here is Reuter’s assessment:

Jordan Jefferson, LSU: Jefferson always has had the physical attributes scouts look for at the quarterback position, as proved in Indy by his 6-4 1/8, 223-pound frame, 10 1/4-inch hands, 4.65 40-yard dash, 36 1/2-inch vertical and receiver-like 4.06 20-yard shuttle. He even put up 225 pounds 14 times on the bench press, a test most quarterbacks choose not to perform. The way the ball came out of his hand while he was throwing to receivers Sunday also reminded scouts of arm strength that can stretch defenses in a vertical attack. His game tape isn’t exemplary, but the skill set he showed in Indianapolis will probably be enough to see him drafted in April — possibly higher than some expect, due to a lack of promising mid-to-late-round quarterback prospects.
